I have extensive experience as an Immigration Officer within the Australian Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP). I served as a Case Officer, acting as a decision-maker for various visa sections, including a crucial role as a Senior Student Visa Case Officer where I assessed and managed high-risk applications.  

As an Information Officer within the Client Service Division, I gained a deep understanding of all Australian visa subclasses and their interactions. This role also provided comprehensive knowledge of the internal systems and administrative procedures guiding visa decisions.  

Recognizing this unique operational knowledge, I was selected to serve as a consultant within the Digital Transformation Task Force for the design of new departmental systems (Client Portal, VEVO, ImmiAccount, and other internal systems). My tenure was extended to include testing these new systems, determining if they accurately reflected legislative, policy, and administrative guidelines. I later served as a subject matter expert, training various stakeholders on using the newly developed systems.  

This combination of experience as a visa decision-maker, a policy interpreter, and a consultant/tester/trainer for the systems used to assess risk has equipped me with a unique understanding of the student visa framework.
